A Special Place to Stay in London
113 Pepys Road, London SE14 5SE
We hope to reopen in line with 'Step 3' of the government's roadmap for the ending of lockdown which is currently scheduled for no earlier than 17th May 2021. We are happy to take bookings currently, but of course will be bound by any changes made to the roadmap.
In an effort to keep our guests safe we will ask you to comply with social distancing measures, and initially we will only be making one of our rooms available at a time.
Guests will have the choice of either the Chinese Peony Room (double room) or The Tulip Room (twin room).
To reassure our guests about our cleanliness and commitment to safety against the Coronavirus we have signed up to Sawday's Clean and Safe Charter.
This means that we will:
- Follow government cleaning advice for non-healthcare environments
- Enable self-check in where possible and practise social distancing during stays
- Have measures in place to allow guests to practise good hygiene throughout their stay
David Marten and his wife Maedhbhina (pronounced "Mayveena") welcome you to their home, a semi-detached Victorian family house which has been beautifully refurbished and redecorated and brought up to date with modern technology. Wireless internet access is available for guests.
The house is situated on a hill and overlooks Telegraph Hill Park, the first landscaped park of its kind in South East London with 100 year-old oaks and other fine trees. At night, there is a stupendous view of twinkling London lights. The house is very welcoming, filled with fresh flowers and orchids, batik and other paintings and beautiful furniture.
The elegant bedrooms have been specially designed with comfort in mind. They are luxurious, elegantly furnished and the comfortable beds are made up with crisp, starched linen. A television set, tea and coffee making facilities, bottled water, both still and sparkling are offered to our guests. Luxurious bath sheets, the best soaps and a hair dryer are also on offer in our sparkling bathrooms.
The dining room is quite special and it has been successfully used as a small meeting room for business guests. Capacity for 12 persons. We can also cater for private dinners by prior arrangement.
The French windows from the dining room open on to a mature garden, designed and laid out by David's late father, Tim, a great gardener, over 30 years ago. It has two majestic Magnolia Grandiflora producing white saucer-like flowers from June to November, and a 25 foot Bay tree. There are also vibrant camellias. There is a patio with table and chairs for sitting out in summer, surrounded by containers holding a wealth of flowers, spring bulbs and lilies. A lure for garden lovers.
Please note that this is a no-smoking household, and also that we have a (very friendly) dog.
